[Please indicate the exam and your list number or comparable title on your resume.] Major Responsibilities • For Operations and Management Planning (OMP), reporting to the Chief for Inspection and Audit, under general supervision, with considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment, oversee the Parks Inspection Program (PIP) as well as inspections for Recreation, Golf, Restrictive Declaration, Automated External Defibrillator, Summer Weekend, Internal Audit follow-up, Capital Walk-Thru and other inspections, as needed. • Ensure that PIP’s team of 10 full-time Inspectors receive proper training and support, are monitored for consistency, and receive regular feedback and guidance. • Manage the PIP Analytic team, providing guidance and technical support, to ensure quality assurance for field inspections and improve the content and delivery of PIP’s tools, reports and presentations. • Present ratings results to Chiefs and Commissioners at the Monthly Operations Meeting and at other high-level settings. • Collaborate with other divisions to improve the usefulness and availability of PIP data and reports throughout the Agency in desktop and mobile environments. • Represent PIP by conducting training and presentations both internally and for outside agencies. • Provide guidance to Maintenance and Operations, addressing any concerns and conducting field visits to discuss properties and standards. • Ensure new inspection sub properties are created in GIS as needed and added for inspection on a timely basis. • Respond to requests from Legal regarding inspection records. • Ensure compliance with Fleet procedures including routine maintenance and follow-up on violations. • Perform special projects, as required. 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U. S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and four years of satisfactory, full-time community liaison, community organization or community relations experience, at least two years of which must have been in a broad administrative or policy-making capacity with responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, developing, evaluating and/or administering a large community service program or activity; or 2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and eight years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described in "1" above, at least two years of which must have been in a broad administrative or policy-making capacity with responsibilities as described in "1" above; or 3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. Undergraduate education above the high school level may be substituted for the community liaison, community organization or community relations experience, but not for the two years of broad administrative or policy-making experience described in "1" above, at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university (as described above) for each year of experience, up to a maximum of 4 years. Graduate education beyond the baccalaureate degree may be substituted for the community liaison, community organization or community relations experience, but not for the two years of broad administrative or policy-making experience described in "1" above, on the basis of 30 graduate credits from an accredited college or university (as described above) for each year of experience, up to a maximum of 2 years. However, all candidates must possess a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and two years of full-time experience in a broad administrative or policy-making capacity with responsibilities as described in "1" above.
1. Excellent administrative, organizational, supervisory, analytical and communication skills. 2. Understanding and experience with Parks operations. 3. Experience working with Parks datasets with an understanding of database structures and the business practices that exist around them. 4. Familiarity with statistical, analytical and data visualization software, e.g., ArcGIS, Tableau and SQL Server Studio. 5. High level of proficiency in communicating and presenting both verbally and visually to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 6. Valid New York State driver license.
Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
